Celebrating the Second Doosan Day of Community Service
Doosan Enpure headed out into the community to volunteer in charitable activities for a variety of local charities and schools undertaking activities such as painting and gardening. Staff from the Birmingham based process engineering company teamed up with colleagues from Doosan Babcock Tipton branch to create a great team to tackle the projects.
The activities formed part of the Doosan Day of Community Service, a global initiative from the Korea-based Doosan Group designed to raise awareness of corporate social responsibility among its 43,000 employees worldwide. The event in March follows on from the success of the inaugural Doosan Day of Community Service in October last year, which saw around 10,000 Doosan staff in 13 countries taking part in a range of charity and community initiatives. Our local projects included a local school (creation of vegetable garden and face lift for the play area), local community centre (painting of 2 much used multi-functional rooms) and a childrens home (landscape gardening).
Avtar Jirh, Managing Director of Doosan Enpure, said:
“It has been a great experience to be involved in today’s activities and I am so proud of how my colleagues have embraced this opportunity. The Doosan Day of Community Service will now take place twice a year, allowing us to continue to making meaningful contributions to the communities we operate in. Corporate Social Responsibility remains an integral part of our business, and this initiative is a fantastic way for us to pursue that while reaching those most in need".
Doosan Enpure's Mr Yim (Operations Director) along with Ian Martin (Head of Business Development) Alaister Gemmill (Business Development Manager) and Myoung Hee Jung (PR Officer) turn their hand to painting for the day with other volunteers from Doosan Babcock.
