Enpure JV awarded Guildford sewage treatment works contract

Enpure, in a joint venture with BAM Nuttall, has been awarded a five-year contract to design, construct, and commission a new sewage treatment works for Thames Water in Guildford. The works will replace the current sewage treatment facilities, enabling Guildford Borough Council to develop 1,500 high-quality homes, boosting local job opportunities and benefiting many families in and around the Surrey area.

The new works will be constructed at Slyfield Industrial Estate on land previously used as landfill, approximately 0.7 km from the existing premises.  The new treatment site design leaves space for future expansion to cater for Guildford’s growing population.

The work comprises of preliminary, primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment stages to meet environmental requirements.  The treated water will then be discharged to the River Wey via a newly constructed outfall.  The full detailed design of the works will commence immediately with construction works beginning in Autumn 2022.  The project is expected to be completed in 2026.

Avtar Jirh, Chief Executive Officer of Enpure, said “We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious project with our partner BAM Nuttall and look forward to working for Thames Water again.”
